The Flyers face the Detroit Red Wins in the annual Black Friday game. The Flyers enter the game with an 8-2-4 record in November, while Detroit comes in on a seven-game losing streak.
The Flyers managed to blow a four-goal lead in the third period to the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday before pulling out a 6-5 overtime win over Detroit. Now, the home-and-home series shifts to Detroit, where the Flyers will look to sweep the season series and keep their recent run going.
The Flyers won in overtime, 6-5. In the end, it doesn’t matter how the points come, as long as they keep coming. But against the lowly Red Wings, this was a game that the Flyers needed to lock down and didn’t do it. Sure, they survived, but it sets the stage for a difficult game to come on Sunday in the back end of a home-and-home.
The Red Wings erased a 5-1 deficit to force overtime, but the Flyers still managed to secure two points as Travis Konecny scored the game-winner in a 6-5 overtime win.
The Flyers get back to action following a disappointing road trip that forced the team’s hand to make a coaching change. They take on the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night looking to start anew with a win.
