Take Your Old Legends Away, Please

Larry Bowa. Craig Berube.
Please.Stop.Now.
I'm naturally a sentimental person. It's taken me 30 years to believe sports teams should not be sentimental. I should like these guys, really. Bowa was on the 1980 and 1983 teams, he was a base coach in 1993, I get it. Berube was on the 1987 Cup Finalists, I get it.
But no.
I'll stick to Bowa from here. I found his managerial period to be a failure. The players didn't like him. The team won nothing. They got big name players, and lost big time games. He was abrasive, aggressive, and ultimately, unsuccessful. It was brutal to watch. Now we're going to put him next to our rookie manager, in his ear. I know Sandberg wanted him, but really?
As for Berube, eh. Of course the Flyers hired an enforcer to coach. Next up is GM Hextall to insure "change" is coming to the organization.
The Philadelphia organizations love to bring their old legends back to the team, and have guys retire with the team and stuff. Didn't Doug Collins teach you guys enough?
This mindset is why Dallas Green is still a "part of the team," and all that. Just what we need.
I'm rooting for both to succeed, but I'm pretty much tired of these kind of hires. The Broad Street Bullies are old news, 1980 has been equaled or surpassed, and I don't want to see a Sixers' hire of Barkley and AI, let alone an Eagles hire of Jaws.
