Cody Ross. The one who once pitched an inning against the Phillies as a Marlin and the one who once killed the Phillies in the National League Championship Series back in 2010. Could Ross goe from foe to friend?
According to FoxSports.com's Ken Rosenthal the Phillies are "intensifying" their pursuit of Ross. After muh speculation, there has not been a direct connection to Ross in recent days. The Phillies have been tied to Ross before.
Back in September, National Baseball Writer Nick Carfardo of the Boston Globe reported that the Phillies and Yankees were both "very interested" in right-handed outfielder Cody Ross. At the time Ross was a member of the Boston Red Sox.
Ross might have made good sense for the Phillies in 2012, but the Phillies decided to give John Mayberry Jr. first crack at left field. Ross made just $3 million in 2012. The right-handed hitting Ross batted .267 with 22 home runs and 81 RBI for the Red Sox.
