Domonic Brown was perhaps the most "untouchable" prospect there has ever been in Phillies history. As the Phillies looked to add final pieces to their championship-run teams from 2008 through 2011, the Phillies would not part with Domonic Brown. Not for Roy Halladay, not for anyone else. After five mediocre seasons, the Phillies have finally parted ways with Domonic Brown.
The Phillies announced four moves today:
The #Phillies have outrighted four players off their 40-man roster: OF's Brian Bogusevic, Domonic Brown and Kelly Dugan and C Tommy Joseph.

Brown, of course, is the most notable name. Joseph is a discussion for another day.
But today Phillies fans ponder what never was. As John Stolnis of The Good Phight reminded us, Brown was once ranked by Baseball America as the game's top prospect, even over Mike Trout:

On MLB Network Radio this afternoon, former Phillies closer Brad Lidge called Brown "a great guy" and "a hard worker". Yet, Lidge expressed that Brown would have to go to AAA somewhere to prove that he belongs in the Major Leagues. This is a far cry from what the Phillies hoped.
Brown's best season-or best six weeks – was 2013, which earned him a spot on the 2013 National League All Star team. But Brown quickly returned to mediocrity and helped the Phillies continue to struggle. As the team rebuilds, Brown has finally been ruled out of the team's plans.
