On this Christmas Eve, I figured this clip of the 1984-85 Flyers reciting the fabled Night Before Christmas poem would be worth sharing, courtesy of YouTube user sledgehammer11:
The video was just a snippet from a magical Flyers season that saw them finish with the most points in the NHL (though they did not win the President's Trophy — that was introduced a season later).
Series wins over the Rangers and Islanders led to a dramatic Wales Conference final with the Quebec Nordiques — featuring one of the more dramatic goals in team history, courtesy of Dave Poulin — and a Stanley Cup final appearance, though the injury-plagued Flyers lost in five games to the Wayne Gretzky-led Edmonton Oilers.
What's the only way the video could get any better? The late, great Gene Hart delivering the "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night." Regardless, it's still a memorable clip from a memorable season.
