The Streak Ends: Phillies Lose 4-1
The streak ended this afternoon with a 4-1 loss to the Cardinals.
The Game: Cole Hamels started the 2nd inning by walking Yadier Molina. Jhonny Peralta doubled on a line drive to Dom Brown, moving Molina to third. Matt Adams hit a sacrifice fly to Byrd, allowing Molina to score. He finished the inning with a ground out and a stroke out. 1-0, Cardinals.
Cody Asche started the 3rd with a soft line drive to center field. Hamels singled, moving Asche to third. Rollins hit a sacrifice fly to score Cody Asche. Ruiz was hit by a pitch, but Utley and Howard both got outs to finish the inning. 1-1.
Cole stayed in for the bottom of the 8th. He walked Carpenter, and Holliday doubled on a line drive, scoring Matt Carpenter. Jake Diekman entered the game for Hamels. He hit Molina, then a passed ball by Ruiz moved Holliday to third and Molina to second. Peralta reached on a fielder’s choice, scoring Holliday. Adams out on a sacrifice fly, scoring Molina. Finally, Bourjos stopped the bleeding by grounding out into a force out. 4-1, Cardinals.
To round off the bottom of the 9th, Byrd struck out swinging, Brown called out on strikes. Mayberry walks, and Cody Asche grounds out. Cardinals win, 4-1.

Impact: Bats went silent for Cole, dropping him to a record of 2-4.
