Not quite tanking, but sitting in “basketball purgatory”.

- New Orleans (20-21)
TANK observations of the week:
- While watching the Celtics game, the broadcast seemed to perfectly word the plan for the Boston Celtics right now, “they’re now just waiting around for the next Chris Paul or Blake Griffin to come around”. I agree with the plan too, as Boston does have some nice side pieces, moving forward.
- The Knicks have become the face of tanking, as the Shumpert and Smith deal pretty much emptied the cupboard, minus Carmelo Anthony. Their start to Thursday’s game in London when they started losing 14-0 and then missing about four straight lay-ups.
- Ironically, the Lakers resting Kobe Bryant sporadically is directly working against their tank. They now get him playing fresher, and often more productive, but also gives them better odds to win while playing other guys than a tired Bryant.
- The Kings are quickly free-falling, but they still have an impressive roster. They’d be a completely different story if they were in the East.
TANK games to look out for this week:
- Wednesday: LA Lakers at New Orleans
- Friday: Orlando at New York
- Friday: Boston at Denver
