The Tuesday TANK report
Each week, we take a look at where the Sixers rank among some of the teams competing for the top lottery picks.
TANK Power Rankings (based on chances to finish with No. 1 lottery odds)
- PHILADELPHIA (2-18)
- LA Lakers (5-16)
- Detroit (3-18)
- Minnesota (4-16)
- New York (4-18)
- Utah (5-16)
- Charlotte (5-15)
- Orlando (9-14)
Not quite tanking, but sitting in “basketball purgatory”.
- Boston (7-12)
- Indiana (7-14)
- New Orleans (9-10)
- Denver (9-12)
TANK observations of the week:
- It’s hard to imagine a scenario in which Anthony Davis, for as great as he is, can lead the Pelicans to a top-4 seed and make noise in the playoffs anytime soon. Unfortunately for Davis, he’s just playing undermanned as far as teammates go, playing against the powerhouses of the West.
- This may sound odd speaking of a team that has lost 11 of its 19 games, but Brooklyn is actually doing a better job than I expected this season. I thought by now they’d be coming into the tanking picture.
- What would the Knicks record be WITHOUT Carmelo Anthony? That team is tanking without a cause, playing without a draft pick.
TANK games to look out for this week:
- Wednesday: Boston at Charlotte
- Saturday: Atlanta at Orlando
