The Good:
- Tony Wroten, filling in for Michael Carter-Williams, has been an awesome scorer for Philadelphia. The 21 year-old has started all 7 games at the point, and in the past week he averaged 24.0 points per game over the four games.
- Rookie K.J. McDaniels has been an exciting player, and has a tendency to create a highlight or two. He also is showing flashes of being a consistent, reliable player of the bench for years to come. Last week, he averaged over 10 points in less than 28 minutes.
- Joel Embiid returned to Philadelphia, and did this funny dance to pump the Sixers up pre-game (courtesy CSN Philly.
- Did you see these blocks from Nerlens Noel and McDaniels?
The Bad:
- Nerlens Noel has missed the last two games (vs. Chicago, @ Toronto) after spraining his ankle.
- The Sixers lost in heartbreaking fashion on Wednesday night, allowing Tobias Harris to hit a game-winning long jump shot as time expired. After the game, Brett Brown said the team has to realize they have “no margin for error”, just due to the nature of the young, inexperienced roster.
The Ugly:
- Last night’s loss in Toronto was the worst loss of the season. Brett Brown said the reality is they got manhandled and are undermanned every night.
- The team continues to be plagued by terrible free throw shooting. The worst team in the league, Philadelphia has only converted 65% of their free throws. Tony Wroten is a big reason why for the struggles, shooting around that clip himself while leading the team in free throw attempts.
- The NBA standings, which have the Sixers standing as the only winless team in the league.
Around the NBA:
- LeBron James and Kyrie Irving reportedly had a discussion about changing the young point guard’s bad habbits. The Cavs have struggled to a 2-3 start to the season.
- The only other team in the Eastern Conference with one win or less like the Sixers is the Indiana Pacers. They of course defeated the Sixers on Opening Night.
- The Lakers are no longer winless, after winning against the Hornets yesterday.
