Just hours ago, reports surfaced of Carlos Gomez being traded from the Milwaukee Brewers to the New York Mets. That deal would have included pitcher Zack Wheeler and infielder Wilmer Flores. However, once the team's game finished this evening, Mets general manager Sandy Alderson threw ice water on the reported deal.
Alderson just told #Mets’ writers “there is no trade” for Gomez and that a deal “will not transpire.”

The concerns may have risen from Milwaukee, where Wheeler's medical history was a concern.
Most logical explanation is that #Brewers were uncomfortable with Wheeler’s medical coming off Tommy John. Players were agreed upon.

Reports still remain of the Mets looking for a "big bat" in their lineup. Some of those names include Justin Upton and Carlos Gonzalez, but it seems as though Gomez's name can be crossed off that list.
And now, back to the Cole Hamels Show…
UPDATE: The deal was agreed upon, but seemed to just fizzle out.
I want to be perfectly clear because I've heard this from all angles now: the trade was DONE, pending medicals. And now it's not happening.
