Per Twitter, one of baseball's modern legends (and former Phillie) Jim Thome has been hired by Chicago White Sox GM Rick Hahn as a special assistant. Thome spent three and a half seasons with the White Sox after being traded there in 2006 for Aaron Rowand and Gio Gonzalez (not a bad trade as history would prove). As it stands, Thome's 612 career home runs should send him to Cooperstown. While not official, his retirement seems like a safe bet. If so, it's good to see he still has a job in the game.
