Look no further than Russell Westbrook’s stat line for an indication on how the game went for Philadelphia. The point guard had a triple double—13 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists. He did that in just 20 minutes.
As you would probably guess, Oklahoma City ran away with this one. The Thunder defeated the 76ers 125-92 on Tuesday night at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. The loss marked the 15th consecutive time the Sixers failed to win a game, dating back to Jan. 29. It was also the 14th time in 15 contests they allowed more than 100 points.
The Thunder came out roaring, posting 37 first quarter points. They had 24 points before the halfway mark in the opening quarter. Despite resting much of their starters in the second half, they still managed to score 125 points.
Kevin Durant continued his MVP-type play by dropping 42 points, leading all scorers. James Anderson, a former Oklahoma State Cowboy, led the Sixers with 20 in his homecoming. Despite forcing 22 turnovers, the Sixers still lost by over 30 points.
Westbrook actually completed the triple-double with about five minutes left in the third quarter. It was only his sixth game back from the knee injury he suffered on Christmas.
Philadelphia will get a few days off to regroup after this one. They will next hit the court on Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Center, where they will welcome the Utah Jazz. They are five games away from the franchise record of 20 games. The NBA record is 26, which is suddenly in sight.
