Tom Gamble who re-joined the Eagles as Director of Player Personnel last year after building the San Francisco 49ers into a Super Bowl team has emerged as a top candidate to replace Miami Dolphins General Manager Jeff Ireland who was fired earlier in the week.
According to a report on National Football Post , Gamble has emerged as the Dolphins' leading candidate after guiding the Eagles to an NFC East division championship in Chip Kelly's first season and on the heels of one of the more impactful draft classes by this team in recent memory.
By season's end Lane Johnson, Zach Ertz, Bennie Logan and Earl Wolff all became starters and had significant roles in the Eagles success.
Gamble began his career as a scout and in the personnel department in 1988 when his father, Harry, was President of the Eagles.
Roseman had nothing but praise for Gamble after the completion of last April's draft.
“Everyone can tell you about what kind of people they are and how hard a worker they are, but until you’re with them, you really don’t know,” Roseman said.
“Talk about exceeding your expectations. Not only as an evaluator, not only as a football mind, but as a person. The more good people we can have, the more good, talented people we can have, the better we’re going to be in the future. It’s reassuring to kind of look around the room and see guys like that. It’s exciting for the future of this team.”
This certainly will be a story to watch as the Eagles would certainly prefer continuity in the personnel department and Gamble is highly regarded in league circles.
