Bad news out of the Phillies minor leagues today as top prospect Nick Williams has been placed on the seven-day disabled list with a concussion.

Williams, 21, was one of the prospects that the Phillies received from the Rangers in exchange for Cole Hamels prior to the trade deadline. He left Wednesday night's game early after colliding with the first baseman, who was thrown off the bag due to an errant throw. Since joining Double-A Reading, Williams is hitting .326 with five doubles, two triples, four home runs, 10 RBI's and 21 runs scored. The former second round pick joins fellow outfield prospect Roman Quinn on the disabled list. There' no timetable for his return, but his absence will definitely affect Reading's offense as they get closer to playoff time. You can see the play that he got hurt on here:

Taking Williams' spot in the Reading outfield will be 21-year-old Dylan Cozens. Drafted in the second round of the 2012 draft, Cozens has shown a lot of extra-base power potential in his time with the Phillies organization, but has been pretty up and down with his performances at the plate. This season with Advanced 'A' Clearwater, Cozens is hitting a solid .282 with 22 doubles, five triples, five home runs, 46 RBI's and 52 runs scored. Over his last 10 games, he's hitting .342 (13-for-38) with a double, triple, eight runs scored and three RBI's.
