I re-start the trade candidate profiles with a change-of-scenery candidate in Dom Brown. The Phillies left-fielder has struggled mightily this year, and is probably undoing any positive vibes from his strong month 2013 season.
Teams that could want him- There's no team that's going to call thinking Dom wins them the World Series. Teams that want to take a flier on him could want him though. One idea that has been brought up to me is trading Dom for Dustin Ackley of the Mariners, another prospect at risk of going bust, though he's also rumored to be a part of a Marlon Byrd deal. As far as Dom goes though, he'd likely have to go to a team with a fellow bust prospect that could use a change.
What we have to get back money wise- You're kidding right. Dom's heading towards arbitration, but probably has hurt the value he built in 2013. Money isn't an issue.
What we have to get back player wise- An intriguing body that either hasn't panned out or has a pulse. We're selling low here.
The Outlook- If the phone rings, and an offer is made, I bet Dom goes. He's had one, maybe two good months as a big leaguer. That's after appearances in 2010, 2011, 2012, a full season in 2013, and all of this season so far. If he is interesting to someone else, he's gone.
