Training Camp Notebook: Rowe impressive, Marcus Smith suffers hamstring injury, Bradford itching to play

In day two of joint practices between the Eagles and Ravens, the Eagles defense seemed to get the better of the Ravens' offense.

Rookie Eric Rowe was tasked with covering  veteran receiver Steve Smith for the second consecutive day, and the 22-year-old impressed yet again.

That seemed to be the trend Thursday, as Rowe would have himself a solid day in coverage. Earlier in the practice, he broke up a what would have been a touchdown pass to Ravens receiver DeAndre Carter.

As NJ.com's Matt Lombardo noted in his post-practice observation, "receivers were still getting behind Rowe at times, especially on crossing patterns, but it was a good day overall for the Utah product."

Mychal Kendricks also stood out Thursday, providing solid coverage and flying towards the football, although he committed a pass interference penalty on a play in the end zone.

28-year-old E.j. Biggers made his case for a spot on the Eagles' roster by returning a Matt Schaub interception for a touchdown late in Thursday's practice.

Former first-round pick Marcus Smith had a scary moment during Thursday's practice when he was carted off the field with an apparent "knee injury."

The first rational thought was an ACL tear, but luckily for the Eagles and Smith, the injury was nothing more than a hamstring injury. He will get an MRI tomorrow to discover the extent of the injury.

Chip Kelly gave no update on DeMarco Murray or Sam Bradford's status for Saturday night's preseason game, but both are itching to play, especially Bradford.

Kelly stated in a press conference last week that Bradford would play in the team's second preseason game. For now, it appears that the 27-year-old will make his Eagles debut Saturday night against Baltimore.
