After missing the last game and being held out of practice on “maintenance days,” the Flyers revealed Thursday what many had already inferred.
Forward R.J. Umberger is out for one to two weeks with a lower-body injury. Umberger blocked a shot with his foot in his last game on Saturday in Winnipeg. It is believed that Umberger could have a slight fracture in his foot.
GM Ron Hextall announced the injury, but noted that while the length of the injury is long enough that he could be placed on long-term IR, the Flyers aren’t planning to do that just yet.
Given the 7-10 day diagnosis, the earliest Umberger could likely return is on Nov. 23 when the Flyers host the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Flyers host the Washington Capitals on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
