You can breathe a sigh of relief, Flyers fans.
Despite missing Saturday's game with a lower-body injury, the Flyers have officially listed defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere as day-to-day, GM Ron Hextall announced on Saturday morning.
The Flyers next game comes on Wednesday night against the Boston Bruins. The team begins a stretch of seven games in 12 days next Saturday. Basically, for this to happen now and only be minor is a blessing for the Flyers, who have very limited game action in the next week, allowing Gostisbehere proper time to heal before the team takes the ice again.
Gostisbehere suffered the injury in the first period of Thursday's game in Minnesota. He had a knee-on-knee collision in drawing a penalty. Gostisbehere finished the first period and took two shifts in the second before leaving the game.
Gostisbehere has been a catalyst to the Flyers recent success, scoring seven goals and adding nine assists in 23 games with the team.
Upon his call-up on Nov. 13, the Flyers were 5-8-3 on the season. Since then, they are 12-7-4.
The Flyers host the New York Islanders on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
