As the dust settles from the DeSean Jackson trade, the salary cap and receiver room situations for 2019 seem to be coming more into focus.
In addition to the trade details being cleared up (the Eagles will receive a 2020 seventh-round pick rather than trade one away), information on Jackson’s new deal is becoming known.
Tim McManus of ESPN is reporting that the deal is expected to be for three-years, $27 million.

That may seem like a lot, but only $13 million of that is guaranteed and, with the way Howie Roseman lays out contracts, the third year could be an option year.
Jackson’s cap hit could be lowered to a more reasonable number like $7 million with such a deal.
The acquisition was thought by many to force Nelson Agholor off of the team, but Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that is not true.
Nelson Agholor is likely to remain with the #Eagles, and not necessarily with new contract, source said. Would likely take an attractive offer to pry him away, and maybe if he’s open to restructuring to play elsewhere w/ bigger role, that’s possible. But expectation is he stays.

As stated by McLane, Agholor could still be dealt or sign an extension if the offer is good enough for either scenario, but the Eagles appear content to pay near $31 million to the trio of Alshon, Jackson and Agholor. Nelson is in the final year of his rookie deal and owed $9.2 million.
The position seems scary already with Alshon, DeSean, Nelson and Mack Hollins in the room without and draft picks or possible free agent additions and ignoring Ertz and Goedert’s contributions in the passing game.
