The Phillies look to get back on the winning side of things after dropping the last two games. Not a great deal has been learned from the losses. It's been known from the jump that anything less than a quality start and stellar bullpen is a recipe for a loss.
Vince Velasquez goes for the Phillies tonight following a mostly really good start last week in Atlanta. For six innings Velasquez held the Braves to two hits and the lineup looked completely helpless against him. All of a sudden in the 7th, they figured things out and tagged him for four runs. Still it is no contest that Velasquez has been the best starter on the staff and the most exciting to watch.
Wei-Yin Chen is coming off a really strong outing for Miami where he struck out twelve Brewers over 6.2 innings of two run ball. The Phillies did hit him around a bit in a 6-4 loss back on May 5 where he let up eleven hits and four runs.
It's a pretty standard lineup tonight for the Phillies with Tommy Joseph getting his first shot at back to back games against lefty pitcher Chen after getting his first knock last night. Joseph is battling cleanup with Ruiz hitting 5th as he continues to take the full time catching duties as Cameron Rupp is still on the mend from Saturday night's heroics.
