Voracek out 2 weeks with lower-body injury
In addition to awaiting the Flyers pending trade deadline moves, of which there weren't any, Monday was an important day to Jake Voracek's future for this season as well.
The Flyers forward, who has 10 goals and 38 assists for 48 points this season, will miss his second straight game on Monday night after playing in 286 consecutive games.
GM Ron Hextall updated Voracek's status on Monday afternoon, announcing that Voracek will be out for two weeks with a lower-body injury.
Monday's game marks the 13th straight that the Flyers will play without one of Sean Couturier, Claude Giroux and Voracek. Couturier was out from Feb. 6 to Feb. 23. Giroux returned on Saturday after missing three games.
Voracek was believed to suffer the injury on a collision with goaltender Devan Dubnyk in last Thursday's game against the Minnesota Wild. Voracek finished the game, a 3-2 win for the Flyers, but was noticeably limping after the game.
After Monday's morning skate, Voracek was seen wearing a compression boot on his left leg.
The Flyers play their third game on a six-game homestand tonight at 7 p.m. against the Calgary Flames.
