Voracek out Saturday, Giroux’s status unknown
The Flyers are getting bit by the injury bug at the wrong time and to all the wrong players.
The Flyers got some good news when Claude Giroux returned to practice on Friday, but his status for Saturday's game is unknown. Giroux has missed the three games with an upper-body injury.
With Giroux's status already up in the air, the Flyers got more bad news as Jake Voracek will miss Saturday's game with a lower-body injury, according to GM Ron Hextall. Voracek did not practice on Friday and will be reevaluated on Monday.
Voracek has 10 goals and 38 assists on the season in 60 games. Voracek had played in 286 consecutive games prior to Saturday. That streak, which was tied for third-longest in Flyers history, will end on Saturday.
The injury may have occurred on a third-period collision with Minnesota Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk in Thursday's 3-2 win for the Flyers. Voracek was seen limping after the game.
If the Flyers are without both Giroux and Voracek for Saturday, they will likely rotate R.J. Umberger back into the lineup.
The Flyers take on the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
