Wentz on Relationship with Bradford: ‘It’s been very good’

While Tuesday was more about Sam Bradford's presence on the field as the starting quarterback for the Eagles than the quarterback of the future for the franchise, it was the first chance for Carson Wentz to be on the field with the rest of the team for practice drills.

Over the past few days, Wentz and Bradford have had the chance to meet and get acquainted. Bradford discussed on Tuesday his intentions to offer any guidance for Wentz as he develops, but much has been made about the potential relationship about the current starting quarterback and the future quarterback.

Wentz put a lot of that talk to rest.

"You guys made stories out of it," Wentz said. "It's been really good since we got in here. Finally getting out there, getting out on the field practicing, it's been very good."

With the way Bradford and agent Tom Condon actively looked for a trade once the Eagles were put in position to draft Wentz, there was suspected that maybe there would be some tension given the stories that were out there about Bradford's feelings. Wentz said that the initial meeting with Bradford was tension-free.

"We talked football," Wentz said. "There hasn't been any tension. We're here to compete and help try to help this team get better."

Wentz has a lot of resources for his development as camps begin. In addition to Bradford, the Eagles signed Chase Daniel in the offseason, giving them two veteran quarterbacks to help mold Wentz and take some of the pressure of instant success off the rookie. Head coach Doug Pederson, offensive coordinator Frank Reich and quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo are also all former quarterbacks.

"With Sam and Chase, there's been a lot of good, open conversation. We're all trying to help this team get better. Obviously, Sam and I are new to the offense and Chase has been in it previously. It's been a really good atmosphere.

"I think it says a lot about this Eagles organization. That's how things are done around here. It's all about winning. Honestly, whatever is going to help this team succeed, that's what's going to happen. With Sam, with Chase, it's awesome."

The three quarterbacks took roughly an equal number of reps on the first day of practices, something Pederson said he would look to continue throughout the practices leading up to game action.
