Pool play came to a close at the World Championships on Tuesday, setting up Thursday’s single-elimination quarterfinals round.
In all, nine of the 10 Flyers that went to the tournament will still be playing in the tournament come Thursday.
Here’s how the quarterfinals set up and how the 10 players have done in the tournament so far.
Team Canada
The team most well-represented with Flyers players was the best of Group B, posting a 6-0-1 record in their seven games in pool play.
Claude Giroux had two goals and four assists for six points in seven games. Travis Konecny has yet to score a goal in the tournament, but has seven assists in the seven games.
Brayden Schenn finally got on the board with his first point of the tournament in Canada’s final pool game on Tuesday against Finland. Wayne Simmonds had two assists in seven games, and Sean Couturier had one assists in five games.
Canada will face Germany in the quarterfinals at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday.
Team Czech Republic
The Czechs posted a solid third-place finish in Pool B behind Canada and Switzerland, with wins in five of their seven games in the tournament so far.
Jake Voracek had one goal and five assists for six points in seven games. Radko Gudas has two goals and one assist for three points in seven games.
Czech Republic faces Russia in the quarterfinals at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday.
Team Russia
Russia won six of seven games so far in the tournament, but came up one point short of Team USA for the top spot in Pool A. Still, a solid second-place finish has them poised for a run to the semi-finals.
Ivan Provorov has three assists in seven games.
Provorov and Russia get to face his Flyers teammate Jake Voracek and Czech Republic at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday.
Team Finland
Finland managed to grab the fourth and final spot in the quarterfinals out of Pool B, thanks in large part to Valtteri Filppula’s heroics.
Filppula has two goals and two assists in seven games in the tournament, including the overtime game-winner in Sunday’s 3-2 win over Switzerland.
Finland takes on USA on Thursday at 10:15 a.m.
Team France
France bowed out of the tournament, falling short of the top four with a 4-3-0 record, just one point short of Finland for fourth in Group B.
Pierre-Edouard Bellemare finished the tournament with two goals and two assists in seven games.
