The quarterfinal round of the World Championships featured nine Flyers players. After the single-elimination matches on Thursday, seven are still alive to play in the semi-finals.
Canada, Russia and Finland all advanced to Saturday's semi-final round. Jake Voracek and Radko Gudas of Czech Republic were eliminated.
Here are how all four games played out.
Finland-USA
After a scoreless first period, Finland broke the ice with a power-play goal by Mikko Rantanen at 1:01 of the second period.
Joonas Kemppainen made it 2-0 at 6:49 of the third and that would be enough for the Finns in the 2-0 shutout win. Harri Sateri made 26 saves in the shutout win.
Valtteri Filppula had one shot in 17:18 of ice time.
Russia-Czech Republic
Dmitri Orlov and Nikita Kucherov scored goals in the first period to set the tone for this game. Russia jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening frame and never looked back.
Artemi Panarin put the game on ice with a goal at 13:55 of the third to seal the win for Russia. Andrei Vasilevskiy made 27 saves in the shutout win.
Ivan Provorov had one shot on goal and took a penalty in 14:04 of ice time for Russia.
Jake Voracek took a penalty and had no shots in 18:23 of ice time. Radko Gudas had four shots and was a minus-one in 17:05.
Canada-Germany
It took 17:11 before Canada opened the scoring on a goal by Mark Scheifele to take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
Jeff Skinner added a goal at 8:08 of the second to make it 2-0.
Germany made it interesting, getting a shorthanded goal at 13:21 of the third by Yannic Seidenberg to cut the lead to one, but Canada held on for the one-goal win to move on.
Claude Giroux had six shots and took a penalty in 14:14. Brayden Schenn had one shot, took a penalty and was a minus-one in 6:36. Wayne Simmonds had three shots in 15:01. Sean Couturier had two shots in 17:19. Travis Konecny had one shot in 7:45.
Sweden-Switzerland
The teams traded goals in the first with Nicklas Backstrom opening the scoring for Sweden and Gaetan Haas for Switzerland.
William Nylander broke the tie at 13:15 of the second to put Sweden ahead. Alexander Edler scored at 3:44 of the third to open up a two-goal lead for Sweden. Henrik Lundqvist did the rest, making 26 saves on 27 shots in the win.
Canada and Russia face off and Finland takes on Sweden in the semi-finals of the tournament on Saturday. Canada-Russia begins at 9:15 a.m. and Finland-Sweden follows at 1:15 p.m. ET.
