Sunday’s game was a beautiful end to a sweep of the
Washington Nationals. Lee achieved
his first win at CBP since September 2011, and gave up only one run (Werth brought home by Moore) in seven
innings pitched. The game was
started up with Frandsens base hit, followed by Lee’s double to take the lead.
J Roll helped his team stay on top with a two run homer into right field. The
Phil’s stayed hot for the remainder of the game and won to sweep the Nationals
in the final game of the series.
Tonight at 7:05, the Phillies will face off against division
rivals The Mets at Citizens Bank Park.
Vance Worley
(4.06 ERA, 6-9) hopes to start things right for the Phil’s. He is
following up a solid rebound game last time out against the Reds. He did, however,
take the loss, but in his six innings pitched, he only allowed two runs. It wasn’t his most impressive game, but
after three straight starts were he didn’t last longer than five innings, it
was an improvement.
Worley is 0-2 against the Mets this season, with a 3-3
lifetime ERA in seven career starts against them.
Opposing Worley will be Chris Young (4.33 ERA, 3-7) who is
looking to continue his team’s success against the Phillies (4-8). This will be Young’s second time facing
the Phil’s this season, taking a loss on July 4th.
Although the Phil’s have been struggling against their
rivals so far this season, their records have been very different since the
last time they met in Early July.
The Mets had a weak 3-14 record in July, and have so far
posted a 9-15 record this month. The Phillies, however, are 15-10 in August and
have won five of their last seven against Division leaders The Nationals, and
The Reds.
