During last night's 105-87 loss to the Hawks at the Wells Fargo Center, the Sixers lost one of their scoring threats. In the fourth quarter, Tony Wroten came down awkwardly on his right knee and sprained it for the second time this season. He sprained it against the Nets back at the end of November, causing him to miss six games before returning. It looks like he will not be making the trip with the team to Toronto for tonight's game.
"I don't believe he will," Sixers head coach Brett Brown said when asked if Wroten would travel with the team to Toronto for Wednesday’s game against the Raptors. "We are reduced to having Michael [Carter-Williams] and JaKarr [Sampson] as our point guards. Off we go to Canada." [CSNPhilly.com]
Before injuring his knee, Wroten had 10 points and four assists. JaKarr Sampson has played limited time at point guard for the Sixers this season. He played power forward in college. Sampson is averaging 3.6 points and 1.8 rebounds in 11.5 minutes per game this season for the Sixers.
If Wroten turns out to be out for more than just a game, the Sixers do have an open roster spot to be flexible with before Friday's game against Jrue Holiday, Anthony Davis and the Pelicans.
