Right-handed pitcher Carlos Zambrano left the Triple-A game
today after two innings because of “serious” pain in his right shoulder.
Ruben Amaro Jr. says that they will “continue to evaluate
him” for the Phillies. Amaro mentioned that he would like to see him as a
starter, but that bullpen work may be in his future.
He was signed to a Minor League deal on May 15th,
and set July 1st as his opt-out date. His statistics were not bad,
but he was throwing under 90 mph and inconsistent.
