Defending Kyle Kendrick: Last Night’s Hero Has Been Effective Spot Starter

Phillies fans don't like Kyle Kendrick.  In fact, I regularly shake my head at our friend Stephen Gallo's regular anti-Kendrick tweets.    Last night he was positive: Why is it that our friend Steve and so many others have such deep-seated hate for our dear Kyle?  Looking back to 2007 when Kendrick burst onto the […]

With Vance Worley Injury, Could Roy Oswalt Return to the Phillies?

Photo: Philliedelphia/Steve Trapani The Phillies need pitching.  Badly.  With Vance Worley's injury, the Phillies' pitching staff is about as injured as it was back in 2007, when they blew through an unbelieveable 28 pitchers. Where can you get a veteran pitcher in May when few options exist?  Well, Buster Olney of ESPN thinks that Roy […]

It’s Time for the Phillies to Cut Some Veterans in the Shaky Bullpen

Yesterday afternoon we witnessed once again the Phillies' major problem this season: starter has a dominant/decent/good start, and the bullpen quickly coughs up the 1-2 run lead that the team has.  Yesterday's game was both a cause for frustration and a cause for hope. With their dominant closer unavailable, the Phillies had to turn to […]

Uh Oh…Phillies Announcer Tom McCarthy is Now on Twitter

Well, the real Tom McCarthy is on Twitter, apparently at @TMacPhils.   And now he is actually tweeting. The account first tweeted on February 21, but his identity is seemingly confirmed by a host on MLBNetwork, which sent tweets flying, our @xochristinaxo reports. I wonder if he is familiar with @tommcarthyisms. What are the odds […]

Vance Worley to Miss Next Start for Phillies Against Cubs

Not good.  Jim Salisbury is reporting that Vance Worley will miss his scheduled start in Chicago tomorrow, due to soreness in his arm. Presumably, Kyle Kendrick will make the start in his place.

Scott Podsednik Freed By the Phillies After Miserable Start, No Promotion

Scott Podsednik really felt he did everything he could to make the Phillies this year. This Spring Podsednik hit .309 with five doubles, a home run, and five walks. I personally felt he was superior to Juan Pierre in defense, power, speed, and would have been the better choice.  But, the Phillies chose Pierre, perhaps […]

Phillies Call On Hector Luna, Raul Valdez, Jake Diekman; Two Phillies Players Headed Out Unknown

It's far from official; in fact, maybe Michael Schwimer purposely was trying to beat the media and a press release: We figured that Jake Diekman was headed to Philly.  What about the rest? This would mean beyond Joe Savery headed to AAA two more players have to go.   The Hector Luna and Raul Valdez […]

Joe Savery Headed for Northeast Extension Trip to AAA; Who’s Coming to Phillies?

Well, the Phillies optioned LHP Joe Savery to the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs.   Earlier today, our Rich Wilkins called for a move – SOMETHING to change the dynamic of this incredibly boring, unentertaining team.  So who is it, and why can't the announce it now?  Some possibilities: The player coming up has not been […]
